POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER (F/M/D) 

Plasma diagnostics


Initially limited to 12 months (with the prospect of long-term employment) / Weekly working time 40 hours / Remuneration according to TV-L wage group 13 (gross salary range depending on professional experience, see renumeration table 2025)

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Characterisation of plasma sources for different applications using electrical and optical diagnostics, including electric field measurements and 3D imaging;
  • Investigation of plasma-induced shock waves using background-oriented schlieren method;
  • Derivation of ideal operating parameters of plasma sources for given applications;
  • Writing scientific publications and participation in proposal writing.

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Doctorate in plasma physics with a strong track record in studying low-temperature plasmas, particularly atmospheric-pressure plasma jets
  • Strong expertise in the following plasma diagnostic techniques and instruments: high-voltage equipment, (nonlinear) optics, electrical measurements, optical emission spectroscopy (OES), electric field measurement techniques, laser spectroscopy measurements, ICCD camera imaging

  • Expertise in the construction and operation of plasma setups, including remote control and data acquisition
  • High level of creativity and problem-solving skills, sense of responsibility and reliability
  • Experience in structured research data management and grant writing is a plus
  • Very good English language skills (spoken and written), knowledge of the German language is an asset
