YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary objective of this position will be the development of new manufacturing routes for deposition of perovskite ceramic thin films for proton conducting ceramic membranes, within the frame of CAMPFIRE, a research project of the region North-East in Germany within the frame of WIR!- Wandel durch Innovation in Region [regional development through innovation] of the Federal Ministery of Education and Research. Our vision is to develop and implement economically viable technologies for decentral production of green ammonia from air and water by means of renewable energy as well as utilization of ammonia as a future maritime shipping fuel.
The Campfire alliance joins over 40 small, medium and large enterprises in the renewable energy sector, chemical industry and shipping industry, universities and research institutes as well as climate protection agencies within the region North-East, Germany, Poland and Norway in an Open Innovation Approach.
Main focus of the project work at INP is on development of ceramic thin films manufactured by magnetron sputtering and subsequent laser annealing processes for thin film activation. Process optimization is accompanied by investigation of crystallographic and structural properties of perovskite thin films as well as investigation into electrochemical properties.
We seek candidates at PhD level in Material Science, Nanotechnology, Materials Engineering or Solid State Chemistry or related fields with a background in ion and mixed conducting complex metal oxides such as perovskites.
Knowledge in crystallography and characterization of structural properties by X-ray (XRD) is essential. The candidate will also ideally have skills in electrochemistry and characterization of transport properties of electroceramic materials and good knowledge in energy technologies.
The candidate must work systematically and solution orientated with a high research competence. Ability to work in a closely interlinked project team and meeting tight deadlines are necessary, as well as good language skills in English, both written and oral. Documented academic and project development skills are required, as well as the ability and ambition to write scientific publications, prepare project applications and carry out project management.
